Step 8: Store defaults
One pass through every setting that shapes how the product behaves. Do it before you build your fleet.
What to do
Dashboard > Set up your store > Configure your store defaults, then Start.
- Answer each step and click Continue.
- Click Skip on anything you do not know yet. It leaves the setting unset rather than guessing for you.
- Back revisits a step.
- On the last step the button reads Finish.
- On "You're All Set!", click Go to Dashboard.
The ones worth slowing down for
| Setting group | What it decides |
|---|---|
| Damage deposits | Whether you place a hold or take a charge, how long before departure it is placed, how long after return it releases, and whether late-return overages are charged automatically |
| Booking rules and cutoffs | Whether bookings need approval, how late somebody can book today, and the maximum simultaneous departures |
| Cancellations and reschedules | Whether customers can cancel or reschedule themselves, until when, and whether a fee applies |
| Safety and compliance | Minimum renter age, overdue-return alerts and the grace period |
| Registers and receipts | Receipt header and footer, logo on receipts, SKUs |
Watch out for
Deposit, tax, pricing and waiver defaults set here are carried into every item you create afterwards. That is why this step sits before your fleet.
A day-before booking cutoff time makes all same-day bookings call-only. Clear it to go back to the hourly cutoff alone.
Max simultaneous departures of 0 means unlimited, not zero.
Wizard progress is remembered per browser and per location. Switching computer or location restarts the resume point, though every setting you saved stays saved.
You are done when
The wizard reports you are set, and your deposit, cutoff and cancellation rules match the policy you actually intend to run.
