19. Connect Stripe

Create your Stripe account, clear verification, and understand why connected is not the same as paid out

Step 19: Connect Stripe

The only step whose clock you do not control. Start it on your first day and let it verify while you build everything else.

What to do

Admin > Locations > Location Settings, stay on Profile & Branding and scroll to the Stripe block.

  1. Set Country for Stripe account.
  2. Click Connect Stripe Express.
  3. Complete Stripe's onboarding.
  4. If Stripe wants anything else, it appears under Manage account. Clear it. It is usually one document.
  5. Watch progress under Card Payments > Onboarding, and actual bank deposits under Card Payments > Payouts.
This country, not your signup country, sets your payout currency

The field's own helper text says so: it determines the payout currency of the new account. Getting it wrong means creating a new account rather than editing this one, so read it twice before you click connect.

Three states, not one

Charges can work while payouts do not. Connected is not approved.

What Stripe asks you for

It depends on where your business is registered, and RentalTide does not decide it. Broadly: your legal entity details, your business or tax registration number, bank details for payouts, and photo identification for the account representative. The country-by-country list is on Initial setup.

Verification usually takes one to two business days, occasionally longer. If it is running long, check the requirements list before contacting anybody. It is almost always waiting on one thing.

You are done when

Payouts enabled, not merely connected. Your existing Stripe dashboard, if you had one, carries on working exactly as before.
