Step 13: Pricing, part two: rates and deals
Numbers inside the seasons you just built. Rates are what a thing costs. Deals are the rules that take something off.
Hourly
Open your season and expand Rates. If there is no hourly card, click Add another way to charge and pick Hourly rate.
- Choose Same every day or Varies by day, then type the rate. Varies by day is how Saturday costs more than Tuesday without a separate season.
- Set Shortest rental and longest, in hours. Defaults are 1 and 8.
- Save.
Minimums and maximums are stored per weekday, but the Shortest rental and longest boxes overwrite every day, flattening a per-day setup without asking. A shortest longer than the longest is a hard save blocker.
Daily and multi-day discounts
- Add another way to charge, then Day rate. Set the rate and the day minimum and maximum (defaults 1 and 30).
- Expand Deals, and under Multi-day discounts click Add discount.
- Fill the row: so many days or more, so many percent off. New rules default to 3 days and 10%, and the row minimum is 2 days.
This is how a weekly rate should be built. You describe the rule once and it applies itself to any length a customer picks.
Switch day pricing off and the discount rules disappear from the screen while staying in your data. Do not re-enter them.
Time-of-day deals and packages
Both live under the hourly card, and neither exists in a day-rate-only season.
- Time-of-day deals: Add deal, then a start time, an end time and a percentage off. Tick must fit window to require the whole rental to finish inside it, rather than merely start in it.
- Packages: a fixed length at a fixed price, for example two hours for a set amount. Set the length and price, then type each start time and click Add.
It replaces every explicit start time with a sliding window. It is a replace, not a merge.
You are done when
Every way you actually sell has a rate, and your weekly or multi-day pricing is expressed as a discount rule rather than typed by hand.
