Today's Hub

A single day-at-a-glance board for checking guests in, tracking waivers, and running the dock

Today's Hub is the operations board your dock staff live in during a shift. It lists every rental and tour scheduled for a chosen day as a stack of cards, and lets staff check guests in, mark them on board, chase waivers, and open the full booking without leaving the page. Find it in the sidebar under Operations > Today's Hub.

The board polls for updates every 15 seconds, so a waiver signed on a guest's phone or a check-in tapped on another device shows up here on its own. You can also force an update with the refresh button in the header.

Day picker

The board opens on today's date. Use the arrows on either side of the date to step back or forward one day at a time.

ControlWhat it does
Left arrowMove to the previous day
Right arrowMove to the next day
Date labelShows Today, Tomorrow, Yesterday, or the weekday and date for days further out
Tap for todayWhen you are on any day other than today, tap the date to jump back to today

Bookings are matched to the day by their actual rental time, not the date the booking was created. A rental that runs across the selected day appears on that day's board. Maintenance and drydock blocks are hidden so the board only shows real customer bookings.

Stat tiles and filters

A row of four tiles sits above the list. Each tile shows a live count for the day and doubles as a filter. Tap a tile to narrow the list to just those bookings; tap Total to clear the filter and show everything again.

TileColorCounts
TotalNeutralEvery booking scheduled for the selected day
UpcomingGreenBookings that have not started yet, including any departing within the next few minutes
On waterBlueRentals currently out (checked out and not yet returned)
OverdueRedRentals whose return time has passed but that have not been marked returned

A booking's state is worked out from its status and its start and return times. Anything already returned or completed is not counted in these tiles.

Below the tiles is a search box. Type to filter the visible cards in real time. Search matches on:

  • Customer name
  • Phone number
  • Boat or inventory name
  • Email
  • Booking ID

Clear the search with the small x on the right of the field.

Scanning a booking QR

The QR button in the page header opens a camera scanner. Point it at the QR code on a booking confirmation or a waiver link and the board jumps straight to that booking, highlighting its card. This is the fastest way to pull up a specific reservation when a guest walks up with their phone.

Booking cards

Each card is a compact summary of one booking. The colored dot on the left reflects the same states as the stat tiles (green upcoming, blue on water, red overdue). Every card shows:

ElementDescription
Customer nameThe booking holder
Start timeThe scheduled departure time and a relative hint such as "in 15m"
Inventory nameThe boat or asset type booked
Here countHow many guests have been checked in out of the total party size
Balance dueHighlighted in amber when the booking still owes money
TOUR tagMarks tour sessions, which are managed through the manifest

Under the summary, three mini stats track the party's progress at a glance:

Mini statMeaning
WaiversSigned waivers out of the party size
ArrivedGuests checked in out of the party size
On boardGuests marked on board out of the party size

Tap a card to expand it and work the guest list.

The guest manifest

Expanding a rental card reveals a row for each guest in the party. This is where staff run check-in.

ActionHow it works
Check in a guestTap the guest's name or the check button to mark them arrived. Tap again to undo.
Mark on boardTap the anchor button once a guest has arrived to mark them on the boat.
Mark allUse the Mark all button in the manifest header to check in the whole party at once.
Waiver pendingA guest without a signed waiver shows a "Waiver pending" chip with two options next to it.
Send waiverThe send button texts the waiver link to the guest's phone (requires a phone number on file).
Show QRThe QR button displays a code the guest can scan to open and sign their waiver on their own phone.
Signed waiverOnce a waiver is signed the row shows a green "Waiver signed" chip instead.

When a booking's inventory has a check-in checklist, each guest row also shows tappable checklist chips (for example safety briefing or lifejackets). Items flagged as required to board are visually marked so staff do not send a guest out before completing them.

At the bottom of the expanded card, the Open order (or Open booking) button takes you to the full order details page for payments, edits, and history.

Check-in checklists

Checklists are set per inventory item. Open a rental card, then use the settings icon in the manifest header to edit the checklist for that boat.

  • Add your own items, or pick from suggestions such as Safety briefing, Lifejackets fitted, Fuel checked, On board, and Photo ID verified.
  • Toggle Required to board on any item that must be completed before a guest goes out.
  • Reorder items with the up and down arrows, and remove any you no longer need.
  • Saving updates the checklist for that inventory item everywhere it appears on the board.

Tours

Tour sessions appear on the board with a TOUR tag. Expanding a tour card gives you an Open in manifest button. Tour guest check-in is handled on the manifest page rather than inline on the hub card.

What operators use it for

Today's Hub is built for the person standing at the dock, not at a desk. A typical shift looks like:

  • Open the board on today. The tiles tell you how many parties are still to come, how many are out, and whether anyone is overdue.
  • As guests arrive, expand their card and check them in, chasing any pending waiver with a text or an on-screen QR code.
  • Run the check-in checklist per guest, then mark them on board when they push off.
  • Watch the Overdue tile through the day to spot rentals that are late coming back.
  • Flip forward a day to prep for tomorrow, or back a day to reconcile what happened.
Tip

The board keeps itself current every 15 seconds, so multiple staff can work the same day on different devices and see each other's check-ins and signed waivers without refreshing. Use the QR scanner to jump straight to a guest's booking when they walk up with their confirmation on their phone.

Troubleshooting

Nothing shows for the day -- Confirm the correct location is selected and that bookings actually fall on the chosen date. Bookings are placed by rental time, not the date they were created.

Cannot mark a guest on board -- The on-board button only works after a guest is checked in. Mark them arrived first.

Send waiver button is greyed out -- The guest has no phone number on file. Use the Show QR option instead so they can open the waiver on their own phone.

A signed waiver still shows as pending -- Give it a few seconds for the next automatic refresh, or tap the refresh button in the header. If a waiver was matched by name, phone, or email rather than a direct link, it can take a poll cycle to appear.
